The Transition Shoe For Spring

Image via FreePeople
In like a lion, out like a lamb. This month will be full of moments where you will be gazing down at your old winter boots thinking, I'm so over this weather. One day soon it will officially be spring and we can dig out our summery shoes and live happily ever after. Until then, we will stand strong in this awkward in-between season. If you are like me and live in ankle booties during the winter and sandals during the summer, then this time of year creates the need for an in-betweener shoe. That's where shooties come in. Shooties offer the coverage of an ankle bootie and the fashionable design of a peep toe heel. They can be easily incorporated into any spring outfit. They are carefree and look killer when paired with a fit and flare dress or boyfriend jeans. Here's a few of my favorite options currently in store. Simply click on any box to shop the look.

The Poncho Sweater

Outfit Details: Pink Slate Boutique Poncho Sweater, Express Skinny Jeans, BaubleBar Ear Crawlers, Mint Market Ring, Aldo Accessories Clutch (similar), Victoria's Secret Cuff Bracelet, Lucky Laced Up Wedges (similar here and here)

What's more cozy and chic than an oversized cashmere sweater? The poncho, of course! During the winter months, it gets tough to create a unique outfit that feels warm and fun. There's only so many days in a week that you can get away with the traditional sweater + statement accessory combo (I am super guilty of this). For a trendier alternative, why not try wearing a sweater poncho? I love the simple design and modern details on this Black Poncho from Pink Slate Boutique. It comes in two colors- black and grey. I adore the fringey and ruffle detailing throughout. It keeps the outfit exceptionally interesting!

If you're thinking of adding this sassy look to your wardrobe this winter, here are a few tips to keep in mind:
  • Size matters. Oversized ponchos are everything this winter, but make sure it's not too big. You don't want to look like you're draped in a carpet :).
  • Balance. To keep your outfit looking slim, be sure to pair with skinny jeans or leggings. If you're brave enough and the temps allow, try wearing with thigh-high boots for an ultra sleek look.
  • Belt it. If you are looking to create more dimensional outfit pair with a printed or texturized belt.
  • Versatility. Search for a poncho with a round or relaxed neckline, like the one pictured above. This will allow you to create multiple looks with one garment. You can wear it slightly off the shoulder, diagonal across the body, or as a traditional poncho (seen above).
So what do you think? Will you fall in love with the poncho trend this season? How would you wear it?

Fall Brunch Outfit Ideas

The Coast To Coast Style Series is back! This week, AlinaJohnnalynn and I are highlighting one of my favorite weekend activities...brunch! Give a girl a glass of champagne, and she's ready to celebrate the weekend in style. If you're attending a Sunday brunch and it's still early in the season, it's likely you will be dining outside at a sidewalk cafe. After all, we need to get as much fresh air as we can before the winter comes! To help keep you warm and comfortable, reach for pieces that will block out the slight seasonal breeze. Lately, I've been pairing ripped jeans with this Roll Sleeve Cascade Jacket. It's laid-back, yet classy in all the right ways. To pull together the rest of the look, add a pair of pointed heels and some light layering necklaces.

Figuring out what to wear before meeting your gal-pals can take hours. So, we've got you covered with 3 outfit ideas that will help you stay fly all weekend long.
